Welcome to the Academic Divisions Site of Lindenwood University! We're glad you're here, and we want to tell you a little about who we are and what we do.
Lindenwood University is a premier example of a new category in higher education - the Teaching University - a concept that combines the strengths of the traditional liberal arts colleges with the best qualities of modern universities. The teaching university is dedicated to producing and continually improving a learning-oriented campus culture.
The teaching university supports scholarship but believes that scholarship should complement, illuminate, and enhance the processes of learning and student development. Lindenwood accomplishes this by rewarding scholarship that is incorporated into class activities and course material; by encouraging students to work alongside their professors in scholarly pursuits; by promoting a vigorous honors program; and by continuously collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data on student achievement and program assessment.
Our academic divisions offer a full range of undergraduate programs and a wide variety of graduate and professional degrees.
Our Communications Division provides courses in both Mass Communication and Corporate Communication, and it has an award winning student-run radio station, KCLC.
Our Education Division prepares teaching candidate to enter into the K-12 public education system that is appropriate to all Missourians. Our Education program is the premier teacher and principal preparatory program in the state.
Our Fine and Performing Arts Division stresses learning by application and is famous for producing artists who combine professional excellence with very high employability.
Our Humanities Division emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving and offers numerous career paths within disciplines that form the core of the liberal arts.
Our Human Services Division focuses on service learning that links the university with the community to prepare graduates for professional employment in criminal justice, social work, human service agency management and deployment in the armed forces.
Our Management (Business Administration) Division develops students' analytical and communication skills to prepare the leaders in the areas of human resource and health management, finance, accounting, and information systems.
Our Sciences Division balances the study of the natural sciences and mathematics with investigation in the behavioral sciences, basic science with applied science, and the study of the individual's body and mind with stewardship of the external environment.
Somewhere within these academic divisions, you will find the unique path to your future. We cordially invite you to explore our disciplines at this site. We hope you find the sojourn enlightening and enjoyable. Then give us a call or drop us an e-mail! We want to hear about your educational and professional interests.
