BS in IT w/Emphasis in Networking/Cyber Security

Careers in Cyber Security
Lindenwood University’s evening college (LCIE) is offering a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology with and emphasis in Network and Cyber Security. This accelerated program can be completed by attending evening classes once per week. LCIE is for busy working adults interested in learning to solve real word problems. The most career option for graduates in this emphasis is Information Security Analyst. Other similar careers are also available.

What Information Security Analysts Do
Information security analysts plan and carry out security measures to protect an organization's computer networks and systems. Their responsibilities are continually expanding as the number of cyber-attacks increase.*

Work Environment
Most information security analysts work for computer companies, consulting firms, and business and financial companies.*

How to Become an Information Security Analyst
Most information security analysts have a bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field. They also usually need experience in a related occupation.*

The median annual wage for information security analysts was $86,170 in May 2012.*

Job Outlook
Employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 37 percent from 2012 to 2022, much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand for information security analysts is expected to be very high as these analysts will be needed to come up with innovative solutions to prevent hackers from stealing critical information or creating havoc on computer networks.*
