Grammy award-winning artist Nelly presented scholarships to two local high school students on Thursday, April 23, in the Hyland Performance Arena at Lindenwood University. The event was sponsored by the university’s Black Student Union, Plaza Motors, and Nelly’s record label, Derrty Ent.
Lindenwood University announced last year at Nelly’s Third Annual Black and White Ball that it would award two, four-year full-tuition scholarships. The opportunity was open to all incoming first-year students who met the university’s admission requirements and demonstrated academic success, leadership, and financial need.
The selected recipients of this year’s Black and White Scholarships are St. Louis residents Terranique Campbell and Jeremy Word. Campbell currently attends Rockwood Summit High School and plans to major in marketing, while Word attends North Technical High School and plans to major in journalism.
