Ways To Give

According to The Kiplinger Tax Letter, If you plan to donate appreciated stock to charity this year, instructing your broker to transfer the stock isn't sufficient to nail down the tax deducation this year, the Service privately rules. The date of the transfer on the corporation's books controls when the deduction is claimed. So if you want the write-off this year, act well before December 31 to give your broker time to transfer the stock. Delivering the stock to the charity's transfer agent works better. In that case, the date of delivery determines the tax year the deducation is claimed because the charity has immediate control over the shares.

Lindenwood University provides a variety of convenient ways for alumni and friends to support students, programs, and campus projects through charitable gifts. We gratefully appreciate your support to enhance academic success and make a lasting difference at the university.

Endowed Scholarships:
The Lindenwood University endowment accomplishes two very important objectives. First, it provides scholarship assistance to thousands of students every year who might not otherwise go to college. Second, it secures the future of Lindenwood University to provide the finest values-based higher education in the midwest.

For more information on securing an endowed scholarship, please call Director of Advancement Services, Kate O'Neal, at (636) 949-4903.
Honors Awards:
The Lindenwood University Honors Awards program was established to help recognize deserving students on their outstanding achievements. Every spring at the Honors Convocation, these awards of merit are presented to students who demonstrate outstanding examples of leadership, scholastic performance, loyalty, and service through academic and extracurricular activities at Lindenwood University. An Award Fund is considered permanently endowed when the fund meets or exceeds $10,000. An individual, family, group of friends, civic or social organization, or a business may name an Honors Convocation Award with an initial gift of $1,000. Gift payments may be made to the named award fund monthly, quarterly or annually until the fund is fully endowed anytime within but not longer than ten years after the initial gift.

For more information on securing a Honors Award, please call Director of Advancement Services, Kate O'Neal, at (636) 949-4903.
