The Recreation Leadership program is committed to prepare students for rewarding positions in the exciting and growing field of parks, recreation, and leisure by promoting experiential education and real-life challenges through a variety of courses, which teaches students to plan, organize and facilitate challenging and satisfying leisure service programs to meet the needs of an ever-changing population.
A Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation Leadership is offered through the School of American Studies. Students who pursue a degree in Recreation Leadership will be prepared for positions of leadership for recreation and leisure services offered in private, nonprofit, commercial, municipal/government, or military organizations; youth agencies, county, state and national parks; and/or religious and education institutions. Recreation programs are essential to economic and community development, because they enhance the quality and life for individuals. Recreation professionals are responsible for promoting healthy lifestyles by ensuring the availability of future parks, resources, and recreation and leisure opportunities. The recreation program is the newest bachelor degree offered by Lindenwood University.
