Maureen Carlson

Instructor of Voice

Dr. Maureen Carlson received her Doctorate of Musical Arts from Michigan State University and her Bachelor of Music Education from Heidelberg University.

Dr. Carlson has over eight years experience in PK-12 education and over 15 years experience in higher education. She has taught at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Truman State University, Michigan State University, The University of Michigan –Flint and Music, Art and Language in Bregenz, Austria. Dr. Carlson studied Italian at the Centro Linguistico Italiano Dante Aligieri in Florence, Italy. She has been under the tutelage of Richard Miller, George Shirley, Melanie Helton and currently Christine Armistead. Dr. Carlson is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, International Alliance for Women in Music, National Association Teachers of Singing, College Music Society and MMEA.

Since 1989 Dr. Carlson has performed on stage in recital, oratorio, opera and musical theater. In addition to her duties at Lindenwood University, she is a member of the St. Louis Symphony Chorus and teaches PREK-8 at a private school in O’Fallon, MO.
