Football - Coaching Staff - Return to Previous Page
Head Coach: Patrick Ross
One of the youngest college head coaches in the nation at the age of 33, Ross was named the 2004 Schutte Sports NAIA National Coach of the Year. A native of Southern California, Ross was also named the HAAC Coach of the Year in 2004 and 2007, and the AFCA Division II Regional Coach of the Year in 2004. Prior to coming to Lindenwood, Ross and his staff led Ottawa (Kan.) University to a KCAC championship and a trip to the national playoffs in 2003. Coach Ross, who enters his seventh season as a head coach this fall, also has a background as a defensive coordinator, a role which he filled for four seasons at Kansas Wesleyan University. Coach Ross will work with the offense and coach quarterbacks for LU this fall. The proud parents of Shaelene (3), Ross and his wife, Stacey, are also raising youngsters Peyton (7) and Caden (5).

Shawn Nagel
Defensive Coordinator
Linebackers

One of the bright young defensive minds in the coaching business, Nagel will be in his fifth season as Coach Ross's defensive coordinator this fall. The aggressive Lion defense finished third in the HAAC in scoring defense last season. Nagel has coached at Fort Hays State and Bemidji State, in addition to his stints with Ross at Ottawa (Kan.) and Kansas Wesleyan. He and his wife, Julie, have two young ones in the house - Chase (3), and Slade (1).

Marcus Yokeley
Assistant Head Coach
Defensive Secondary

Yokeley begins his third season on Coach Ross's staff, and his second as a full-timer, after spending the 2006 campaign as a graduate assistant on defense. Marcus will continue to coach the Lion defensive backfield in 2008, and will add the title of assistant head coach to his resume, taking care of various administrative tasks for the program. Coach Yokeley will also continue to fill a vital role as special teams coordinator for the Lions, as he did last season.
Craig Schuler
Co-Offensive Coordinator
Running Backs

A veteran of 17 seasons in the HAAC (11 years at Benedictine and two at Avila), Coach Schuler will again bring a wealth of experience to the Lion staff. With coordinator experience on both sides of the ball in the Heart, Schuler's knowledge will be valuable for the Lions on offense this season. Schuler will coach the running backs in 2008, and serves as LU's recruiting coordinator. He and his wife, Alison, have two daughters - Nikki (13) and Katie (20).

Brian Frana
Co-Offensive Coordinator
Offensive Line

Coaching the offensive line may be the most important job on a coaching staff, and this fall will be Frana's second in that role for LU. Coach Frana spent the 2005-06 seasons as an offensive line coach at NCAA Div. II St. Cloud (Minn.) State. Prior to that, Brian had been the offensive coordinator, offensive line coach and special teams coordinator at Waldorf (Ia.) College. Frana and his wife, Jen, are expecting a baby in time for the Missouri Valley win.
