Hands-on programs require from 3 hours to a full day and the degree of participation is dependent upon the goals of the teacher and age of the participants. All activities may be correlated to MAP. Program fees vary depending upon the activity, materials required and number of participants.

- Ashes and Lard -Learn the chemistry of soap making. (Science)
- The Village Blacksmith - Observe iron being heated, pounded and cooled into a useful item. (Science, Art)
- Black Powder, White Smoke - See a black powder muzzleloader shooting demonstration and learn why bats are critical to the process. (Science)
- Why here? - Answer the questions why settlers picked this spot to build their homes; what the land was like then and how it has changed today. (Science, Geography)
- Direction Finding - Use the shadow-tip method to determine direction during the day and the stars by night. (Science, Geography)
- Sketch Journaling - Make a quill pen and ink and learn simple techniques of sketching nature and other observations enhanced by comments and notations. (Language Arts, Art)
- Rail Splitting - Use a handmade wedge (glut) and a maul (beetle) to split fence rails from cedar logs. (Social Studies)
- Roof Shingles - Riving cedar shingles with a froe. (Social Studies)
- Frontier Games - Crows and Cranes, hoop rolling, quoits (ring toss), and others, (Social Studies)
