The K-12 education programs provide teachers and students with hands-on activities that teach a variety of subjects including: Science, Math, Social Studies, and Geography. Each of the summer youth programs provides unique hands on activities that build essential skills. They teach teamwork, creative problem solving and other qualities that were manifested in those men and women on the American Frontier. The school administers programs in American Studies, Interpretation, and Recreation Leadership. American Studies - click for more information The American Studies major focuses on the interdisciplinary study of the American Experience by looking at how people in the United States think about their country and themselves. American Studies is a viable major preparing students for a variety of professional job opportunities as well as advanced study in graduate school. Interpretation - click for more information The School of American Studies offers a Masters degree in Education with an Emphasis in Interpretation. Interpretation is useful for the communication process used at cultural and historical resource sites to forge emotional and intellectual bonds between visitors and the meanings inherent in the resource. Recreation Leadership - click for more information The Recreation Leadership program is committed to prepare students for rewarding positions in the exciting and growing field of parks, recreation, and leisure. Students are taught using experiential education and real-life challenges through a variety of courses, which teaches students to plan, organize and facilitate challenging and satisfying leisure service programs to meet the needs of an ever-changing population.
