The Daniel Boone Home offers tours and hands on programs for students of all ages.

School Group Tour
The Daniel Boone Home offers a specialized 90 minute tour of the Boone Home and three buildings from the Boonesfield Village. The tour focuses on the Boone family history and life on the frontier. The 1 ½ hour school tour takes students through 3 out of the 4 levels of the Daniel Boone Home and through 3 buildings in the Boonesfield Village of your choice. (Buildings available in the village are the schoolhouse, dressmaker’s shop, carpenter’s shop, Old Peace Chapel, general store, grist mill, and home of Squire Boone.) A 15 minute film on the life of Daniel Boone is also shown prior to the beginning of each tour. There are picnic tables available for lunches.
Admission Pricing:
90 minute tour: $5.00 per student and any accompanying adult.
The teacher and bus driver for the attending class will receive free admission.
K-12 Hands On Programs
The Daniel Boone Home provides students and teachers with a unique hands-on approach to learning about life on the frontier. A variety of programs are offered that teach subjects like Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Language Arts, and Geography. Teachers are able to pick and choose which programs are suitable for their class’s needs. Certain programs can be correlated with MAP testing. A 15 minute film on the life of Daniel Boone is shown prior to each Hands-On tour.
Each hands-on program will last for approximately 20-30 minutes depending on the size of the group. A total of 4 programs can be chosen to meet the 2 hour minimum requirement. Some programs offered are dependent upon weather conditions since they are held outside. Programs, listed below, are labeled to show if they are indoor or outdoor. If by chance the weather should not be ideal on the day of the hands on tour, an indoor Hands-On program will be provided.
The Daniel Boone Home offers an indoor program to students. This program will be provided on days when the weather does not permit outdoor programs to be run. The indoor program will also be the program offered from November 1, 2009 – February 28.
