This versatility gives our graduates a competitive edge in the job market. This makes Lindenwood University's Communications curriculum one of the leading programs of its kind in the country.
The New Technologies of Communication
Coursework and hands-on activities in the Internet, web page design and non-linear video prepare students for career opportunities in new media. All majors will take basic coursework in the technologies and advanced courses are available to those wishing to pursue specialized interests in technology.
Hands on Experience
An important component in the Mass Communication major is practical experience outside of the classroom. LU provides intensive, hands-on broadcast experience at 89.1 The Wood, KCLC FM the University's 35,500 watt radio station. Under the guidance of professional management, students work in all facets of station operation including programming, promotion, news reporting and writing, marketing, traffic, and on-air announcing. KCLC FM serves a diverse listening audience in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Lindenwood's cable television station, LUTV, gives students real-life experience in all aspects of video production, and television programming. Students perform both on-camera and behind the scenes jobs on the station, which is available throughout St. Charles County on the cable system. Charter Communications LUTV HD Studio is located in the J. Scheidegger Center for the Arts.

Students hone writing and interviewing skills by working for the Lindenwood Public Relations Office and Sports Information Office as well as writing for KCLC and cable television newscasts. With access to Macintosh and personal computer labs, students also learn desktop publishing and word processing for use in creating various publications.

Students who major in communications may enter an internship program in their junior or senior year to acquire on the job experience with a professional broadcast and communications organization. Students intern in St. Louis area radio stations, newspapers, public relations firms, advertising firms, on-line businesses and corporations.
