Our Schools

Our Sponsored Schools

Lindenwood University currently sponsors three schools under a single charter, which was renewed for another five years in 2015. Gateway Science Academy opened its doors in 2010, providing a rigorous math, science and technology based curriculum to 330 students in grades K - 7 in south St. Louis city. Today the schools comprise three campuses and anticipate serving approximately 1,320 students for the 2015 - 2016 school year and graduating their first class in the spring.

The three schools are among the highest achieving charter schools in St. Louis. The original campus was named “Charter School of the Year” by Missouri Charter School Association in 2014. The South campus posted the highest science gains for 2015 in the school’s network of 30 schools as measured by the NWEA nationally norm-referenced test. The schools consistently outperform the home district and provide a quality education option for families in south St. Louis city.

"Teaching and Leading as an Art and a Science"
The School of Education agrees that the general outcome of the teacher education program must be teaching professionals that believe and implement teaching as a blend of “Art” and “Science” as represented by the Beauty and Mechanism of the Spellmann Clock Tower… Teaching as an art because teaching is a craft that must be learned and applied in an authentic environment. Teaching as a science because it must be influenced by research and best practice for optimal student learning to be achieved.
