Instructional Leadership w/ emphasis in Higher Education Administration
This strand is for those who are currently in leadership positions or those seeking to move into leadership positions in the higher education environment. Courses cover student affairs, higher education law, and other key components of this field. Our combination of leadership and applied research prepares you to work in this fast-paced, growing environment. The dissertation process at Lindenwood also prepares you to analyze institutional data as well as present and publish your research.
In January 2011, an EdD in Instructional Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration began at the Southwest Missouri campus as a cohort. This emphasis is currently offered on both campuses. St. Charles campus courses are offered in a variety of formats: face-to-face, online, and as a hybrid to better meet the needs of working adults.
"Teaching and Leading as an Art and a Science"
The School of Education agrees that the general outcome of the teacher education program must be teaching professionals that believe and implement teaching as a blend of “Art” and “Science” as represented by the Beauty and Mechanism of the Spellmann Clock Tower… Teaching as an art because teaching is a craft that must be learned and applied in an authentic environment. Teaching as a science because it must be influenced by research and best practice for optimal student learning to be achieved.
