Purpose of Position: The Department of Art and Design at Lindenwood University seeks a full-time Assistant Professor of Graphic Design for the 2014-2015 academic year. The successful candidate will teach, advise and mentor in the Graphic Design Program.
Duties & Responsibilities: Teach three studio courses per semester and a January term class, advise students, participate in committee work when commensurate with departmental needs, and other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of advertising art direction, motion graphics, and web/interactive design. Candidates should also be fluent in historical and contemporary design methodology, theory, and practice; demonstrate a broad knowledge of technology and emerging media related to design; and have the ability to teach all levels of design from theory to practice, utilizing research methodologies, strategy-based problem solving and user-centered design. Applicant should possess effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Education Requirements: (including training, registration, licensure and accreditation)
An M.F.A. in Graphic Design or comparable terminal degree is required.
Work Experience Requirements:
Two years of university-level teaching experience is preferred with strong evidence of professional achievement, at least five years of industry experience.
