Christian Ministry Studies Faculty

Dr. Timothy Gibson

Dr. Timothy Gibson proudly serves as Assistant Professor and Department Chair of Christian Ministry Studies at Lindenwood University. A graduate of the University of Mississippi (B.A. English and Broadcast Journalism), Reformed Theological Seminary (M.Div. Counseling) and Trinity International University (Ph.D. Educational Studies), Dr. Gibson is passionate for Christ and the spiritual maturation of young adults. He has over 20 years of experience ministering to teenagers and college students in congregational and academic settings. In addition, Dr. Gibson is an ordained minister and is the author of the book Whatever Is Wise: Proverbs for Young Adults. Before coming to Lindenwood, Dr. Gibson most recently served at Montreat College as Assistant Professor of Youth Ministries & Biblical Studies and prior to that at Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis. Currently, Dr. Gibson also serves as a bi-vocational pastor for Deer Creek Church, a cowboy church in Cuba, MO.

He is married to his lovely wife Brooke, and together they have two sons – Whitman and Chamblin. Dr. Gibson enjoys spending time with his family, chatting around a good meal and is always up for a round of golf.

Rev. Timothy Butler

Rev. Timothy Butler serves as University Chaplain at Lindenwood University and teaches in the Christian Ministry Studies department. He has served as chaplain since January 2013, teaching at the university since 2011. Professor Butler earned a B.A. in English Literature and Religion (with a minor in Philosophy) from Lindenwood. He has a Master of Divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary, and he is presently pursuing a PhD in Reformation Studies from Concordia Seminary – St. Louis. He has served in a variety of ministry capacities and was ordained as Pastor of Discipleship at Grace Presbyterian Church in Cottleville, MO, in 2012.
