Chinese Studies

School of Chinese Studies

The Department of Chinese Studies provides students the opportunity to learn and understand the nature of China today and its centuries-old traditions. Students in the program will learn the basics of the Chinese language and the essential elements of Chinese civilization, and will have the opportunity to advance their skills in Mandarin and to enhance their familiarity with historical and contemporary China. The Mandarin emphasis will give students the ability to develop their language skills for the fields of interpretation and translation.  The Chinese History and Culture emphasis will enable students to teach students in the areas of Chinese history, philosophy, and culture.

Our faculty members bring a wealth of professional and academic experience into an intimate classroom setting, where learning thrives. They blend theoretical concepts with real-world applications to provide a diverse educational experience in a supportive environment.

If you are a motivated and independent thinker who is eager to learn and ready for a wide variety of stimulating and hands-on career options, we invite you to contact Dr. Brian Arendt at the School of Chinese Studies at (636) 627-2516 or to learn more.
