Lindenwood University is very proud to have a local chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society (La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica), established in 1919 at the University of California in Berkley. The local chapter at Lindenwood University is Iota Xi.

The purposes of this Society are to honor students who seek and attain excellence in the study of the Spanish language, and the literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking peoples, to encourage students to acquire a greater interest in, and a deeper understanding of Hispanic culture, and to foster friendly relations and mutual respect between the nations of Hispanic speech and those of English speech.

Membership requirements are a completion of at least three semesters of college course work, or the equivalent, a GPA of 3.0 in Spanish, a ranking in the upper 35% of the class, and at least one semester of upper-division Spanish. Honorary Members are recognized for their strong support of Spanish language Hispanic culture.
