Careers

History majors work in a wide variety of fields.  They are educators, teaching in the classroom and at historic sites and museums.  As researchers, in addition to publishing scholarly works, they manage cultural resources, address issues related to historic preservation, and work for think tanks.  Many history majors become communicators, working as editors and writers, journalists, editing documentaries, managing information and records, and overseeing archives and libraries.  Others become advocates serving as paralegals and lawyers or partnering with foundations.  Yet others find a place in the business world working for corporations and nonprofits or even becoming entrepreneurs who creatively turn their historical interests and talents into revenue streams.
