The Department of History and Geography sponsors two student organizations.
Phi Alpha Theta is the National Honor Society. Most major universities have chapters; Lindenwood’s was inaugurated in 2008. Membership is for life and inductees are connected to both a campus-wide and nation-wide network of amateur and professional historians. They receive The Historian, Phi Alpha Theta’s journal, and are invited to attend and participate in conferences. New members must have completed 12 hours of History courses with a 3.1 GPA and have an overall GPA of 3.0. Students interested in joining should contact Dr. Michael Whaley, the faculty advisor, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The History and Geography Club, which is made up of both majors and non-majors, meets throughout the academic year both formally and informally. Its members organize movie nights, host campus events, and plan field trips to historical sites in the region.
