Located in the beautiful Butler Library, the Mary E. Ambler Archive was established in 1975 by former Lindenwood librarian, Mary E. Ambler (Class of 1930), in an effort to preserve the memories of Lindenwood University's long and eventful history.

Mission Statement

In 1827, Lindenwood University was founded in an effort to train the daughters of our nation's pioneers. Since that time, Lindenwood has experienced changes that has reflected the culture of the Midwestern United States; always with the intention of helping young men and women acquire the skills to become useful citizens. The primary goal of the Ambler Archives is to be a tool that Lindenwood faculty will find useful in making history interesting to future historians and sociologists. The Archives secondary goal is to make its resources available to Missourians and researchers abroad, by making content accessible through digitization.
