LUTV - Facilities

Lindenwood is dedicated to offering well-equipped and ample facilities to support its television station and academic programs. The University has made a commitment to keep pace with the constantly changing industry.

Shooting on location, students receive instruction in recording and editing a variety of current formats, ranging from AVCHD to JVC ProHD, Panasonic P2 DVCPROHD, and Red Digital Cinema. Lindenwood also provides lights, sound mixers, microphones, and other important equipment to allow students to achieve professional-level production value in their work.

The LUTV studios use Hitachi HD cameras, a Grass Valley switcher, Deko graphics, and other broadcast-caliber tools to ensure that students will be well-trained for the transition to a professional setting after graduation. The Charter Communications studio features three permanent sets and a chroma-key wall to allow for a number of different types of production.

Live newscasts are written, anchored, and directed by students, using iNews, Avid Newscutter, Avid Media Composer, and the Command newsroom automation system. These are the same systems typically used in a number of network-affiliate news operations, and graduates are uniquely positioned to make the transition to jobs in the news business. The AT&T newsroom is the center of the LUTV news operation.

In addition to four fully-equipped edit suites in the LUTV studio, students learn editing in a 24-computer Avid Media Composer lab that features Unity networked media storage as well as full visual effects and DVD authoring capabilities. Students also have access to a 24-system Macintosh lab with Final Cut Pro editing software.
