Blanton Hall is dedicated
August 15, 2000
Lindenwood University officials formally dedicated Blanton Hall, a 180-bed women's residence hall, in a ceremony August 9.
The $6 million, four-story residence hall, which will be occupied this fall, is named in honor of the Ben F. Blanton family. Ben Blanton is a Lindenwood University executive board member.
In addition to Blanton Hall, a nearby 180-bed men's residence hall will be completed by the start of classes this fall. The two residence halls are the first built at Lindenwood since 1966, when Lindenwood erected Parker Hall on the campus' east side.
Blanton said he was honored by the recognition.
He said the halls were designed to complement Lindenwood's history campus buildings such as Sibley Hall, which has stood for more than 150 years.
"We could have built these buildings for a lot less, but they would not have fit in with the historic nature of our campus."
