Theatre program to present 'A Christmas Carol'

December 3, 2002

Lindenwood University will perform Charles Dickens' heart-warming tale of Ebeneezer Scrooge’s episodic journey to joy, A Christmas Carol at 7:30 p.m. on Dec, 5, 6, and 7, with a special matinee presentation at 2 p.m. on Dec. 7 in the Jelkyl Theatre in Roemer Hall on the university’s St. Charles campus.

This production, adapted specially for the stage by Fine and Performing Arts Dean Marsha Parker, will allow the audience to revisit all the famous moments and colorful characters that have made this play a yearly tradition. Graduate student Sara Dinehart directs a talented ensemble in a show certain to please all age groups. Audience members will be treated to a mixture of “seasoned players” and quite a few new faces, in the Theatre Department’s commitment to opportunities in mainstage offering for all drama students.

Senior Jeff Robbins of Jackson, TN and junior Jonathan Elkins of Memphis, TN will grace the stage as Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Present, respectively. Freshman Kinderek McElvain of Hurst, TX appears as the Ghost of Jacob Marley.

Local grade schoolers Teri Kemper, Lucas Shanahan, Blake Edler, Murphy Dailey, Emily Kuhlo, Anthony Pacheco, Melanie Canning, Logan Darling and high school student Kristen Shanahan grace the stage as characters’ children.

Mark Neels as the narrarator, Lydia Warwick as Elizabeth, Ben Peters as Fezziwig, and Tiffany A’Lena Rea as Belle all hail from the Fenton and St. Charles areas. Senior Natasha Mangiaracino along with freshmen Andrew Vaught, David Koeller, Julia Welsh and Stephanie Kain round out the cast.

Tickets are $8 for general admission, $6 for seniors and $3 for students. You can reach the box office by calling (636) 949-4878 Monday-Thursday, from 1-5 p.m., Friday from 1-6 p.m. and Wednesday evenings until 8:30 p.m.
