Abbott wins teaching excellence award
September 21, 2004 Dr. Marilyn Abbott, professor of biology and dean of sciences, will receive the Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in a ceremony Dec. 1 in Columbia, MO. Abbott, who has been Lindenwood's dean of sciences since 2000, has a B.A. in biology from Indiana University and a Ph.D. in biological sciences from Purdue University. "Teaching is a profession of continuous renewal," Abbott said. "Each year, I have a new opportunity to convey the excitement of biology to a new group of students. "In addition, teaching at a four-year university offers the joy of seeing those students grow and mature, both intellectually and emotionally," Abbott said. "I don't know of another profession that offers such satisfaction." ### Press Release Contact:Public Relations |
