Lindenwood shooters win national title


Lindenwood University won its second consecutive national shooting title April 20-24 at the 37th annual ACUI Collegiate Clay Target National Championships in San Antonio, Texas.

The Lindenwood team was led by junior Misty Williams, who won the Ladies High Overall Championship, and freshman Sean McLelland, who took second in the Men's High Overall Championship.

The four-day event included four shotgun disciplines with a total score determining the team national championship. Lindenwood also won a separate national title in 5-stand (sporting clays).

Lindenwood defeated Texas A&M and Missouri to earn the national championship.

Junior William "BJ" Gowan, freshman Derrick Mein and junior Cole Geisler won the international trap competition; Freshman Sean McLellean, sophomore Daniel Wies, and Geisler won in international skeet; and freshmen George Nelson and Goldie Pippin, senior Adam Wood and juniors Bryan Stuntebeck and Misty Williams won in American Trap.
