Lindenwood will be Florissant's Hometown University
November 1, 2005
Lindenwood University has announced a plan for its newest site -- Our Lady of Fatima in Florissant. The University has purchased the site from Johnny Londoff Chevrolet with the intent of turning it into a major satellite facility serving all of North St. Louis County.
"The success we have had in the City of Florissant over the last year has proven to us that Lindenwood University needs to have a major presence in North County," said Lindenwood President Dennis Spellmann. "This is the perfect location and will serve as a great base of operations for our north county focus."
"We see a multitude of opportunities at this location," said John Guffey, dean of admissions. "We plan to offer coursework leading to undergraduate degree completion, graduate education classes, professional and school counseling, and graduate management classes."
Florissant Mayor Robert Lowery brokered the deal in which Lindenwood purchased the church property, consisting of a rectory, a school, a church and a convent on about 15 acres at 4450 Washington Street. The Londoff dealership will use part of the site to park vehicles.
