Marcus Bugler, who spent more than 30 years in various dance roles with the Metropolitan Opera in New York, was a guest J-term artist teaching a seminar course in ballet and ballroom dancing.

Born in Australia, Bugler actually went to high school in St. Louis, where he performed with the Muny Opera.

Bugler says he "makes an annual pilgrimmage west" and stopped in St. Charles at the request of LU dance instructor Janet Strzelec. As teenagers, the two danced for rival dance schools and got to know each other.

Strzelec and Bugler already are making plans for a return visit next year.
