The Daniel Boone Home in Defiance, Mo., will hold its annual Pioneer Days “living history” event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 1, offering historical reenactments, music, food, vendors, and a variety of other attractions on the site of the historic Daniel Boone Home. Admission to the event is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (55 and older), and $6 for children (age 4-11).
Visitors can chat with shopkeepers in period dress in Boonesfield Village, try their hand at some frontier skills, sample hearth cooking or simply enjoy the beautiful Femme Osage Valley.
The event will include a pre-1840 encampment, in which camping is available for a fee during the event, a black powder shooting competition, and a variety of re-enactors, artisans and vendors. In addition to food, music and crafts, the weekend will include a fashion show featuring period attire, a ladies’ tea and parts of an obstacle course. The event will also include a Pioneer Kids Village, which includes frontier games, opportunities for kids to try various frontier living skills, and a reenactment of a frontier school day (circa 1830) at the Boonesfield Village school house.
