Enrollment in Lindenwood University’s adult education program has taken one of the largest one-year leaps in the program’s history. Fall quarter enrollment was at 2,322 students, which represents a 7 percent increase over the 2,171 students enrolled in fall of 2005. The increase continues a trend of increasing enrollment for the adult programs at the school.
Larry Doyle, Lindenwood’s executive director of adult, business and corporate programs, said the largest portion of the adult program enrollment is in the Lindenwood College for Individualized Education, which is an accelerated evening program designed for working adults; it accounts for 1,908 of the students enrolled, which increased from 1,731 in the fall of 2005. The remaining adult enrollment is spread throughout Lindenwood’s MBA program and a variety of other programs.
“A typical increase from one fall to the next is usually 2 to 4 percent,” Doyle said. “This fall’s increase was very good.”
Doyle said the growth was most marked in Lindenwood’s North County campus, which opened in Florissant last fall and increased from 75 students at opening to 214 this fall. The school’s Belleville, Ill., campus also experienced strong growth, going from 267 students last fall to 344.
Overall, including its traditional daytime undergraduate and graduate programs, Lindenwood serves more than 14,000 students annually and has been, over the past 10 years, one of the fastest growing institutions of higher learning in Missouri. Lindenwood offers more than 100 degree programs for graduate and undergraduate students.
