Two New Residence Halls Will Be Built

Lindenwood University's board of directors Friday agreed to spend an estimated $13 million to construct two additional residence halls on the western side of the school's main campus in St. Charles.

Acting President James D. Evans said that Lindenwood would spend about $6.5 million apiece on the structures, which will house about 190 students each.

Evans said the new buildings would likely house young men "but we are not making that designation permanent." Construction will begin in March and the new buildings would be occupied in the fall of 2008.

Evans said the new dorms were needed to "respond to a very strong demand for on-campus housing."

After the two new residence halls are complete, Lindenwood will have constructed eight new dormitories in a decade.
