Soda Named Lindenwood Chief Information Officer

Lindenwood University has named veteran faculty member Dominic Soda as its chief information officer. As part of his duties, he will oversee implementation of a new, comprehensive information system that will integrate all aspects of Lindenwood operations, including Admissions, Academic Services, the Business Office and Financial Aid.

“The new system is a tool to help us build a single database accessible to all members of the university,” Soda said. “This involves integrating several university offices using the CAMS Enterprise Software from Three Rivers Systems as a tool.”

By allowing the various departments to instantly access information from each other, the university should be able to enhance service and functionality for its students, parents, staff and faculty. While there is not a specific target date for implementation, it is hoped that the system will be online in the 2007-08 school year.

As CIO, Soda is also responsible for the university’s network infrastructure, computer systems, phones and cable television services. Soda taught math and computer science at Lindenwood for 37 years, ending in the 2006 school year, after which he served as manager of the system on which Lindenwood’s current student information system resides.

Earlier in his career at Lindenwood, he was involved in planning the basic network and phone infrastructure of the university. Soda has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in math and computer science from Queens University in Ontario and the University of Missouri—Rolla and a doctorate in mathematics from Yale University.
