Campus YMCA to Offer Childcare to Evening Students
June 27, 2007
Starting in September, the Lindenwood University Campus YMCA will offer a state-licensed child care program on-site to evening students at the university.
“There is a strong need in our community for quality baby-sitting and child care services,” said Deb Salls, executive director of the Lindenwood Campus YMCA. “Students who are returning to school in the evenings have a very specific need and it is often hard to find adequate child care during these hours. Many Lindenwood students are working so hard at home as parents, as students, and often as full-time employees in the workplace. We hope to alleviate some of the burden by providing this service.”
The child care center will be open Monday through Thursday from 4 to 10:15 p.m. (Hours will be available during the summer on an as-needed basis). The fees will be $25 for four hours or $7 per hour (two-hour minimum). Children from age 2 1/2 (toilet trained) to 12 are welcome. The facility is located in rooms 109 and 111 in the Lindenwood Cultural Center, which is at 400 N. Kingshighway in St. Charles.
An open house will be held on three dates, during which the public may tour the facility, visit with staff and learn about the program. The open house will be:
Saturday, July 7, 8 a.m. to noon. Monday, July 9, 4 to 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 4 to 10 p.m.
