Valerie Riley, a junior at Lindenwood University, has received a national award called the NextGen Leaders Award from American Humanics, Inc. Riley, a resident of Imperial, will receive a $4,500 stipend to help cover living and educational expenses while completing an internship with the Carondelet YMCA.
Riley majors in nonprofit administration at Lindenwood. The award recipients were chosen by a national panel of university, nonprofit and philanthropic leaders. Along with the $4,500 stipend, NextGen award recipients will each be paired with a nonprofit professional who will serve as a mentor during the internship.
