Morris To Sign Copies of Book

Dr. Edward L. Morris, dean of the Division of Management at Lindenwood University, will talk about and sign copies of his new book, “The Lindenwood Model: An Antidote for What Ails Undergraduate Education,” from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, at Main Street Books, at 307 S. Main St. in St. Charles.

Morris’ provocative book, published by Lindenwood Press, takes a hard look at the higher education establishment in America, which he says has become less efficient, more expensive and less student-centered over time. The culprit, he says, is the drive by many universities to do too many different things, rather than focusing on what should be their primary goal: teaching their students.

The book also explains how Lindenwood has in recent years become the fastest growing college or university in Missouri while maintaining a steadfast focus on its students and teaching. While Morris does not imply that Lindenwood’s approach is appropriate all across the higher education landscape, there are lessons there that could be beneficial to many institutions of higher learning.

“The Lindenwood Model” is 202 pages long and has a cover price of $24.95. The book will be sold at the Sept. 29; it is also currently available at the Lindenwood Spirit and Supplies Shoppe on the main Lindenwood campus—209 S. Kingshighway, St. Charles, Mo., 63301.

Morris has written numerous articles throughout his professional career; “The Lindenwood Model” is his first book. For more information, contact Chris Duggan at 636-949-4913.
