Lindenwood University’s history department, political science department and cable television station (LU TV26) are seeking high schools to participate in the inaugural Lindenwood Invitational High School History Bowl, a high school history quiz show to air on the station in November.
The competition is open to any high school that wishes to participate and will be held on Saturday, Nov. 10, in the LU TV-26 studio in Young Hall on the Lindenwood campus; the preliminary matches will be aired the following week, and a championship round between the top two schools will be held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18, and aired live on the cable station. Teams will consist of three students per school; there is no registration fee.
The first eight schools to sign up for the competition will be accepted. The categories will be American history, political science, and geography. Rules will be modeled after MSHSAA academic competition guidelines, although there will be some modifications with respect to the number of categories and to format the competition for television.
All students in the competition will receive a tournament T-shirt, a DVD of the broadcast, lunch and various parting gifts. The winning team will be awarded the invitational trophy, and team members will be eligible for scholarships to Lindenwood. The competition will be held annually.
