Lindenwood University is opening its doors to top students who have been squeezed out of Missouri’s Bright Flight grant program.
Lindenwood has long offered a near full-tuition scholarship for Missouri Bright Flight scholars. The university’s dean of admissions, Joe Parisi, said that scholarship offer will remain for all students who score a 30 or higher on the ACT—even though the state is changing the Bright Flight eligibility to a score of 31 or higher on the ACT.
“Those who have a 30 ACT will no longer be eligible for the $2,000 state Bright Flight grant, but we aren’t going to turn our backs on them,” said Parisi.
Parisi said Lindenwood has established a Presidential Scholarship for first-time freshmen who have scored a 30 on their ACT. They receive $14,200, plus an additional $2,400 work and learn award, covering the majority of their room, board and tuition.
Parisi said the candidates must meet all admission requirements, and must remain continuously enrolled as a full-time undergraduate resident student in good academic and social standing.
This fall, Lindenwood University welcomed a record 45 first-year students who scored a 30 or higher on the ACT. Parisi estimates Lindenwood now has 126 Bright Flight scholars on campus.
