The new documentary, “Boom: A Video Documenting the History of St. Charles County from 1945 to 1964,” will debut at a premier event at Lindenwood University on Jan. 17, 2008. The film is based on a portion of St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann’s book, “Crossroads: A History of St. Charles County, Missouri” (2004, Lindenwood Press).

The showing will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Young Hall Auditorium on the main Lindenwood campus, located at 209 S. Kingshighway, St. Charles, Mo., 63301. A reception will follow the showing.

The showing is primarily by invitation, but a limited number of seats will be available to the general public.. Admission is free, but reservations are required to attend the showing; to reserve seats, contact Scott Queen at 636-949-4920 or squeen@lindenwood.edu. Reservations will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk-ups will not be admitted.

Executive producers for the documentary are Lindenwood communications faculty Peter Carlos and Ben Scholle. It was written by Lindenwood student Jody Mena and edited by student Mark Hallett and Carlos and Scholle. The student production crew included Hallettt, Manuela Sakata, Jonathan Turner and James Gianoulakis.

Archival footage and photos were provided by the St. Charles County Historical Society. Research help was also provided by members of the historical society, including Bill Popp, Maureen Rogers-Bouxsein and Cleta Flynn.

Following the premier, the documentary will air periodically on LU-TV26 (channel 26 on Charter cable). A program schedule for LU-TV26 is posted regularly on the channel in between the airing of programs.
