Discussion/Lecture Feb. 20 on Writer's Strike

Lindenwood University Artist in Residence Rift Fournier and fellow television and film writer Paul Guyot will speak on the recent writer’s strike and future of television and film from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, in the Young Hall Auditorium (room 109) on the main Lindenwood campus—209 S. Kingshighway, St. Charles, Mo.

The lecture is free and open to the public. The program will be on the current state of affairs with the writers’ strike and will also branch into a discussion of the future of television and film and the Internet’s increasing role in the entertainment industry.

Fournier is an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning writer and producer with shows ike “Kojak,” “Dark Justice,” “Baretta,” “Wiseguy” “Charlie’s Angels” and the children’s show “The Go Show,” which he also directed. He has also created and/or written for a number of shows in Europe. Fournier has taught in the United States and Europe, including a stint on the faculty at the University of Barcelona; he joined the Lindenwood faculty in fall 2007 as an artist in residence in the Communications Division, in which he teaches classes on television and writing for television.

Guyot’s television writing credits include “Snoops,” “Judging Amy” and “Felicity.” He has created and executive produced television pilots for TNT, Warner Brothers, Fox, Sony, Lions Gate and ABC Studios and is currently the creator and executive producer of “Crimes Against Persons,” an A&E pilot slated for filming in St. Louis. He is currently adapting Sean Chercover’s novel “Big City, Bad Blood” for Fox Studios, is writing the remake of Walter Hill’s “The Driver” for 20th Century Fox and has feature development projects at Sony and LivePlanet.
