Filmmaker Will Talk About ‘Climb For Peace’ Expedition

February 20, 2008

Film director Lance Trumbull will present and talk about his documentary, “Everest: A Climb for Peace,” in a forum at Lindenwood University at 7 p.m. on Tuesday March 4.

The event will be held in the Leadership Room of the Spellmann Campus Center on Lindenwood’s main campus, located at 209 S. Kingshighway, St. Charles. The event, which is sponsored by Lindenwood’s Intercultural Club, is free and open to the public.

The 63-minute film documents a 2006 expedition to the summit of the world’s tallest mountain organized by a group called the Everest Peace Project. The nine-member expedition included a Palestinian and two Israelis, whose nations have been embroiled in a bitter war for years. Each feels that his side is in the right, but they also know that in order to conquer Everest, all the team members will have to work together.

The movie is narrated by actor Orlando Bloom and has been hailed as a tremendous achievement by the Dalai Lama. Trumbull will introduce the film and will answer questions from the audience afterwards. An accomplished mountain climber, Trumbull was the organizer, creator and co-expedition leader for the Everest Peace Project. He had the idea for the project while climbing in India in 2002.
