High School Math Competition Here February 10

Lindenwood University will host for the third year in a row a high school mathematics competition sponsored by the Mathematical Association of America. The free competition will take place at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10 on the Lindenwood campus.

The competition consists of two multiple-choice quiz formats. Junior and senior level students must take “Exam 12,” which covers a range of topics typically learned during a four-year high school math curriculum. Freshman and sophomore level students typically take “Exam 10,” which covers topics learned in the ninth and 10th grades. Students who wish to do so will be permitted to take the upper-level exam.

Lindenwood offers scholarships to the top three scorers in the “Exam 12”competition. The winner receives a $10,000 scholarship, the first runner-up receives an $8,000 scholarship, and the second runner-up receives a $7,000 scholarship.

The deadline to register for the competition is Friday, Jan. 30. Students interested in participating may contact either their high school mathematics teachers or Lindenwood Assistant Professor of Mathematics Larry Granda, Ph.D., at lgranda@lindenwood.edu.
