September 9, 2009
A fun-filled Robotics Kickoff for FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) and First Tech Challenge (FTC) teams ages six to 18 will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Hyland Performance Arena at Lindenwood University in St. Charles. The event is coordinated and sponsored by the Partners for Progress of Greater St. Charles.

"Smart Move" is this year's FLL theme as participants are encouraged to research modes of transportation, formulate an innovative solution to improve one form of local movement, and plan a creative presentation based on their idea.
Along with prizes and exhibits, the upcoming kickoff will also include the unveiling of the national FTC challenge and a preview of “Gearing Up,” the new PBS documentary on FIRST that features Wentzville School District's champion robotics team. Speakers will include Dr. James Evans, president of Lindenwood University; and Bill Tingle, vice president of IT for Enterprise Holdings.
As part of their effort to encourage students to study for careers involving mathematics, engineering, technology and science, Partners for Progress will be also be promoting Missouri’s METS Week planned for the first week of March 2010.
