Turnbull to teach in Professional Counseling Program

Dr. Therese Chavaux Turnbull has joined the faculty at Lindenwood University-Belleville and will assist in the further development of the university’s Professional and School Counseling Department.

Since she began teaching on the collegiate level 15 years ago, Chavaux Turnbull has been both an adjunct and full-time instructor at St. Louis Community College and St. Louis University, where she specialized in psychology, counseling, and family therapy. She also crafted the curriculum and led a course in workforce skills enhancement for adult students in the St. Louis area.

A licensed professional counselor since 1990, Chavaux Turnbull has utilized her skills outside the university setting in a variety of positions as well. Conducting a host of corporate trainings and seminars in diversity, conflict resolution, and team building, she was most recently an employee assistance consultant for H & H Health Associates. Chavaux Turnbull has worked as a psychiatric technician, crisis intervention liaison, and director of the intake and assessment team at the Spirit of St. Louis Hospital, as well as a family therapy coordinator for St. Joseph Health Center.

Through her position as an instructor at Lindenwood University- Belleville, she will organize a student counseling center and teach courses on substance abuse and family counseling.

Chavaux Turnbull says she greatly anticipates the growth of Lindenwood’s professional counseling department and looks forward to contributing her efforts and talents to better serve students of the university.

“We are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Chavaux Turnbull to our faculty at Lindenwood Belleville,” said Dr. Ken Kubicek, coordinator of the Professional and School Counseling Program in Belleville. “Dr. Chavaux Turnbull has a wealth of experience to guide her teaching. She is just another example of Lindenwood faculty who have real-world experience.”

Chavaux Turnbull earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, her master’s in counseling from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and her doctorate in counselor education and family therapy from University of Missouri-St. Louis.
