Lindenwood University has entered into a sister school arrangement with Zhengzhou Huaxin College in the People’s Republic of China. University officials met with a delegation from the Chinese institution in early March to solidify the agreement, which will create unique educational opportunities for students at both schools.
Through the agreement, the University will accept a collaboratively developed two-year curriculum from Zhengzhou Huaxin College. A two-year corresponding curriculum will be created by Lindenwood through which students can complete their undergraduate programs.
“Zhengzhou Huaxin is a top private college that has about 26,000 students,” said Ryan Guffey, Ph.D., Assistant Vice President for Student Development and Special Projects. “However, they only have about 40 undergraduate majors and no master’s programs. With our new partnership, Lindenwood can augment their degree offerings and also gain graduate students.”
The arrangement will also allow for native speakers from Zhengzhou Huaxin to teach Chinese at Lindenwood, as the University is currently exploring the possibility of offering a bachelor’s degree in the subject. In turn, Zhengzhou Huaxin will welcome Lindenwood students to Henan, China, for non-degree Chinese language training during summer sessions.
“This agreement was entered into in the spirit of friendship and mutual cooperation and we’re looking forward to the future successes it will bring,” Guffey said. “We also offer our special thanks to Bob Holden, former Governor of Missouri and President of the Midwest U.S.¬- China Association, for making the introductions between our institutions and working to facilitate this partnership.”
