Booklet Highlights University's Economic Impact

March 29, 2011

Lindenwood University has released a detailed review of its economic and community impact in a new booklet titled Lindenwood: A Major Midwestern University. The piece highlights the positive financial and civic contributions the school makes in the region.

“Taking higher education’s effect on workforce jobs skills into account, Lindenwood’s economic impact on St. Charles County alone is estimated to exceed $600 million annually,” said President James D. Evans, Ph.D. “In addition to populating the local economy with educated professionals, Lindenwood also brings diversity, arts, culture, and entertainment to St. Charles.”

Lindenwood is a vital economic engine for the city and county, annually operating with more than 500 full-time employees and more than 900 part-time employees. Nearly 700 of its employees and their families live in St. Charles County and do most of their purchasing, recreating, worshiping, and volunteering in the county.

Of the more than 2,700 college graduates Lindenwood produces per year, 75 percent of those alumni live and work in the St. Louis Metropolitan area. The university educates more K-12 administrators than any other university in the state and is the second largest producer of Masters of Business Administration graduates in the combined states of Missouri and Kansas.

Student servant leaders and volunteers annually contribute thousands of hours toward advancing the greater good of the region, while Lindenwood continually works to enrich the culture of the community through various events, entertainment, and educational offerings.
