Howard Wall to Direct Economics and Environment Institute

Lindenwood University has hired Dr. Howard Wall, former vice president and regional economics advisor at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, to direct its Institute for the Study of Economics and the Environment.

Also a research fellow at the Show-Me Institute in St. Louis, Wall worked in various capacities at the Federal Reserve from 1998 to 2010, including vice president during his final two years with the institution and director of the Center for Regional Economics during his final five years there.

“I’m greatly pleased that Dr. Wall is now part of Lindenwood University and its business school,” said Dr. Ed Morris, dean of the Lindenwood University School of Business and Entrepreneurship. “I am confident that he will provide the leadership to continue and expand the work of the ISEE for the benefit of our students and the regional business community.”

The institute was formed in 2002 by Dr. Kenneth Chilton with a focus on applying economic principles to environmental challenges. Wall has said that the time has come for the institute to broaden its focus to include the economic environment as well as the natural environment.

Thus, the institute’s mission has been broadened to read: “To assist policymakers and the public in understanding how the interactions of the government and private sectors affect the economic and natural environment of the St. Louis region and beyond.”
