Where's the action? Where's the game? Unlikely romances and colorful characters collide in this summer’s kick-off to our second season, one of Broadway’s most hilarious shows, “Guys and Dolls.” The Brass Rail Players at Lindenwood is proud to present this lively musical comedy as our sixth show for eight performances, July 28-31 and Aug. 4-7.
We are drawing talent from seven different counties! This timeless classic features Tim McWhirter of O'Fallon as the coolest guy on the planet, Sky Masterson; Kara Grossmann of Millstadt as uptight missionary Sarah; Mike Niederer of Mascoutah as skittish fiance Nathan Detroit; and Gabi Maul of Belleville as his beloved nightclub chanteuse Adelaide.
The cast includes John Schnable of O'Fallon as gambler Nicely-Nicely Johnson, Matt Dossett of Waterloo as Benny Southstreet, Darrell Duensing of Prairie du Rocher as Big Jule, Steve Jackson of Freeburg as Harry the Horse, Mark Eros of Belleville as Angie the Ox, Dennis Prindable of Belleville as Brandy Bottle Bates, Eric Buscher of Edwardsville as Scranton Slim, Michael Cook of Edwardsville as Liver Lips Louie, Mike Nikrant of Columbia as Society Max, and Shawn Balint of Belleville as Lt. Brannigan.
The Mission Band features Kevin Hester of St. Charles, Mo., as Arvide Abernathy, Rachel Farrell of Swansea as Agatha, and Megan Dice of O'Fallon as Martha. Tammy Duensing of Prairie du Rocher is Gen. Matilda Cartwright.
The Hot Box Nightclub Girls include Kaelee Albritton, Dani Smith, Danielle Jung and Tirssa Schaefer, all of O'Fallon; Stacey Tunnicliff of St. Louis, Lauren Keck of Fairview Heights, Lindsay Jorns of Belleville, and Beth Bodnam of Granite City.
The musical is co-directed by Lynn Venhaus of Belleville and Donna Goetz of New Baden, also serving as choreographer. Marcia Braswell of Belleville is the music director and band conductor, and Janice Codispoti of O'Fallon is assistant director. Danielle Jung is assistant choreographer. Susan Anderson of Red Bud and Shirley Koch of Trenton are stage managers. Marsha Holland of Belleville designed the sets.
"Guys and Dolls" will be presented at Lindenwood’s Belleville Auditorium, the Premier Center for the Arts, at 2600 W. Main St., with showtimes 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Ticket prices are $12 for adults; $10 for students, seniors (age 60 and up), and military, with proper IDs, and $6 for children under high school age. Group rates at $10 for 20 or more can be arranged in advance.
Season tickets -- four shows for the price of three -- can be purchased for $36. The season includes two entertaining musical comedies, a gripping iconic thriller and a side-splitting farce. Dates include “The Passion of Dracula” for six performances Oct. 14-16, 21-23; “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” for five on March 1-4; and Neil Simon’s “Rumors” for five on June 8-11.
