Black Student Union to host MLK Day Observance

Lindenwood University’s Black Student Union will host a celebration of the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., on Monday, Jan. 21, on the school’s main campus in St. Charles, Mo. A commemorative walk will take place at 2:30 p.m. from the Spellmann Campus Center to Roemer Hall, where a program will begin at 3 p.m. inside Jelkyl Theater.
A keynote presentation will be delivered by Latricia Buckner, inspirational speaker, author, and relationship coach. She is also the founder and CEO of Love's Basics, Inc., a company that provides marriage preparation, planning, and maintenance services.
Buckner holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a master’s degree in counseling from Saint Louis University. She regularly delivers presentations and training seminars throughout the St. Louis region on topics such as passion and purpose, team-building, personal and professional development, and more.
In addition to Buckner’s address, the program will also include musical performances by vocalist Joaquin Musick and Lindenwood’s premier vocal group, Voices Only.
The event is free and open to the public. No registration is required.
