The Board of Certification (BOC) is the only accredited certification program in the United States for athletic trainers. The Lindenwood University Athletic Training Program is designed to prepare students not only for the BOC certification exam, but also for careers as highly skilled athletic trainers who possess the necessary knowledge and skills to meet the demands of this competitive profession. Once certified, students can register in their respective state and look forward to employment in secondary schools, colleges and universities, professional sports, sports medicine clinics, and industrial/military settings.
The charts below illustrate the performance of Lindenwood University graduates on the BOC certification examination. The first chart illustrates the percentage of recent graduates who passed the examination on their first attempt as compared to the national average. The second chart displays the program’s statistics over the last three years. During this time, Lindenwood University has continued to meet all BOC standards required by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Currently, these standards require all programs to meet or exceed a three-year aggregate of 70% in regards to first-time pass rate.
Additional information is available on the CAATE website (http://www.caate.net/) illustrating BOC performance by all universities, as well as national averages and trends. To access this information from the CAATE website, you will need to select ‘Professional Program BOC Exam Pass Rate Data’ listed under the ‘Accredited Programs’ tab.
