Alumni Testimonials

Katy McGaha (2014)
Diamond Resorts International, Florida

I really enjoyed being a part of the recreation program at Lindenwood University. The classes were very hands on which prepared me for real life situations. The class sizes were small which made learning more personable. I was able to connect with all of my fellow classmates as well as the faculty who are absolutely amazing. The professors went above and beyond to make sure that I succeeded not only while I was a student but as an alumni as well. I continue to receive emails from faculty almost monthly about new job opportunities which is really nice to know that they still care about me even after I have graduated from the program. A lot of people struggle with finding jobs right out of college but I was hired before I even graduated contingent on the completion of my degree. I am currently an activities coordinator with Diamond Resorts International in Orlando Florida and loving every minute of it.

Beth Ellis, CPRP, CPO (2013)
Florissant Parks and Recreation, Missouri

The Recreation Administration program at Lindenwood University helped prepare me for what has already been a successful career in the Parks and Recreation field. I began a full time job with the City of Florissant in April 2013, a month before my graduation from Lindenwood. Within a month, I was in charge of planning a 5K race. My hands-on experience planning the Kilometers for Chris at Lindenwood proved to be invaluable and I was able to plan an extremely successful race, raising twice as much as previous years. The professors are great and all have experience that they are willing to share with students. I truly felt that all of the staff in the program were interested in helping me succeed in every way. I was lucky to find a program so close to home that I benefitted from in so many ways. Lindenwood was one, very important step, in my journey to what I hope is a long, successful, and rewarding career for life.

Sydney Penrod (2011)
Carnival Cruise Lines, Florida

My training in recreation programming through Lindenwood University has been incredibly valuable in shaping my future. The skills I have obtained through the recreation program developed my ability to communicate, handle guest services related issues, and perform administrative tasks efficiently. Through Lindenwood University I have gained the confidence to take on any challenges I have faced during my career at Carnival Cruise Lines and I am certain that through the continued development of these skills I know I will have a successful future in the world of recreation and tourism.

Kaiti Moore (2011)
Mid-County YMCA, Missouri

The recreation program built my confidence for going into the real world. I did not realize how prepared I was to pursue my passions until I was in multiple interviews and they asked for my experience and knowledge. I was able to tell them with confidence all that my degree prepared me for. The classes through this program were not only fun but they challenged you.  The professors were so helpful and truly cared for your well-being and success. I would strongly encourage anyone with an adventurous spirit to pursue this exciting recreation program. You won't regret it!

Stephanie Huetel (2013)
Lake St. Louis Parks and Recreation, Missouri

Lindenwood's Recreation Administration program provided me with the tools, knowledge, support, and experience to help further my career in leisure services. The recreation program provided many opportunities to network by taking students to multiple conferences, such as the Missouri Park and Recreation Association (MPRA) state conference, where I was able to create connections with professionals in the field. The internship requirements enhanced my abilities by giving me an opportunity to take the knowledge and skills I attained in classes and apply them in real world situations. The entire recreation faculty were very supportive and knowledgeable throughout all my classes. They really cared for you as a person and your success in the field. The recreation program was vital to my self development and career pursuits.
