All first-year students (all traditional undergraduate students who are attending college for the first time and transfer students with fewer than 24 transferable credits who have not successfully completed a Freshmen Seminar course at their previous institution) are required to attend the First-Year Experience (FYE). First year students include all students who have not successfully completed a Freshmen Seminar course at their previous institution. During this program students participate in a variety of informative and exciting activities; they gather information about life on a college campus, learn about institutional policies and procedures, and explore academic opportunities. This exciting and fun program will allow students to interact with other new students; meet faculty and staff; and ask questions about academic and student services.
When is FYE?
January 25, 2014. The schedule is listed below. All events will be held in the Spellmann Center. We recommend for commuters to arrive between 10:30 – 10:45 a.m.
9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Check-In (required)
11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Brunch (optional)
(free for students; guests $7.50/person)
12:15 – 2:30 p.m. FYE Program
I will be living on campus, when will I move into my residence hall?
You will move into your room on Saturday, January 25th between 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
I will already be here for J-Term, do I have to attend?
Yes. You still must check-in to obtain your FYE material and attend the program.
I am a commuter, do I have to attend?
Yes, all first-years students are required to attend this program in its entirety. If you will be a commuter student, I recommend checking in between 10:30 – 10:45 a.m.
I am transfer student, do I have to attend?
• All transfer students with fewer than 24 transferable credits who have not successfully completed a Freshmen Seminar course are required to attend the FYE.
• Transfer students with fewer than 24 transferable credits who have successfully completed a Freshmen Seminar course are not required to attend the FYE. You will attend the Orientation for Transfer students that will be held on December 18th and January 17th ,in two sessions by appointment; Morning Session 8:30 a.m. Afternoon Session 12:15 p.m. Please call 636.949.4949 or email mthompson@lindenwood.edu to make an appointment.
• Transfer students with 24+ transferable credits will not attend the FYE. I am an international student. Do I have to attend?
Yes, all international students are required to attend this program in its entirety. For additional information regarding your arrival, please refer to the Office of International Students & Scholars.
